Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to the nation on Diwali, emphasizing harmony, happiness, and prosperity in his message. In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, "Greetings on the occasion of Diwali. May this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. May the spirit of positivity prevail all around us."
PM Modi also urged citizens to support Indian artisans and entrepreneurs by purchasing domestically made Swadeshi products. "Let's mark this festive season by celebrating the hard work, creativity and innovation of 140 crore Indians. Let's buy Indian products and say – Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai! Do also share what you bought on social media. This way you will inspire others to also do the same," he wrote.
Other political leaders joined in sharing Diwali wishes. President Droupadi Murmu extended heartfelt greetings to Indians worldwide, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah prayed for health and prosperity. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized development and bringing smiles to citizens’ faces. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Diwali as a “sacred symbol of the eternal victory of truth,” highlighting the festival as a beacon of hope, harmony, and national resurgence.
The festive celebrations in Ayodhya made headlines globally, with the city entering the Guinness World Records for lighting over 26 lakh diyas during Deepotsav. The largest-ever Saryu aarti along the riverbanks, organized by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and Ayodhya District Administration, drew thousands of participants and visitors.
Other leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, stressed the societal importance of Diwali, promoting love, brotherhood, and the triumph of light over darkness. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari encouraged citizens to adopt Swadeshi products, while Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad prayed for happiness, prosperity, and brightness in people’s lives.
The Prime Minister’s Diwali message reflects both traditional values and a push for economic self-reliance, linking the festival’s cultural significance with a call for national pride and community harmony. As citizens across the country celebrated, these messages reinforced the essence of Diwali: unity, light over darkness, and hope for a prosperous future.
