Thiruparankundram Lamp Row Can Be Resolved in Tamil Nadu, Says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said the Thiruparankundram lamp-lighting dispute can be resolved within Tamil Nadu itself through the “strength and awakening of Hindus.” Speaking at an event in Tiruchirappalli, Bhagwat responded to a query about escalating the issue nationally, stating that the matter is already before the Supreme Court and Hindu organisations in Tamil Nadu are actively handling it.

He emphasised that escalation would be considered only if local groups sought national intervention, but expressed confidence that the issue would ultimately be resolved in favour of Hindus.

The dispute concerns the right to light the traditional Karthigai Deepam lamp at Deepathoon near a dargah in Thiruparankundram. The Tamil Nadu government has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Madras High Court's order permitting devotees to light the lamp, while political tensions have risen, with opposition MPs seeking the removal of the High Court judge who issued the order.
