WBSSC Releases Class 9–10 Teacher Recruitment Results for 23,212 Posts

The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has released the results of the Class 9–10 assistant teacher recruitment examination, marking a key milestone in the state’s large-scale hiring process for government and aided schools. The results cover 23,212 vacancies and were published on the commission’s official website on Monday evening.

Candidates were able to access their scores online and through a dedicated helpline. The written examination for these posts was conducted on September 7.

Following the announcement, State Education Minister Bratya Basu congratulated the commission for releasing the results on schedule. In a message on X, he acknowledged the efforts of the school service commission, the state administration, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in ensuring a timely declaration.

Verification to Begin After Class 11–12 Process Ends

A senior WBSSC official said the verification round for Class 9–10 posts will begin once the ongoing verification for Class 11–12 teacher recruitment is completed. The commission is expected to publish the list of shortlisted interview candidates during the first week of December.

Officials also noted that several former teachers who lost their jobs after the Supreme Court's April 3 judgment—which cancelled 25,753 earlier appointments citing irregularities—appeared for the exam again and have now cleared it.

Nearly 3 Lakh Candidates Appeared

The commission reported that 2,93,192 candidates appeared for the exam across 11 subjects. The number of vacancies may increase once the revised vacancy list is finalised before document checks and interviews.

Earlier, the WBSSC released results for 12,445 posts for Classes 11–12, following the written exam conducted on September 14. In total, 35,657 assistant teacher posts for Classes 9–10 and 11–12 are being filled through the ongoing second state-level selection test.

The recruitment drive—the largest in recent years—comes after the Supreme Court invalidated the previous hiring cycle, prompting the state to initiate a fresh and transparent selection process.
