Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: Son Jay Pawar Demands Probe into Possible Lapses

Jay Pawar, son of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief minister Ajit Pawar, has demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the plane crash that claimed his father’s life on January 28 in Baramati, Pune district.

In a social media post, Jay Pawar questioned the circumstances surrounding the crash and called for accountability from the aircraft operator. He urged authorities to conduct a fair inquiry into possible maintenance lapses and safety violations.

He also shared an emotional message remembering his father, writing, “Miss you Dad.”

Questions Raised Over Maintenance and Safety

Jay Pawar emphasised that flight data recorders, commonly known as black boxes, are designed to survive severe crashes. He said the public deserves a clear and undisputed account of the tragedy.

He called for immediate action against the aircraft operator and demanded a detailed investigation into possible malpractices related to aircraft maintenance and safety procedures.

The crash occurred while the aircraft was attempting to land at Baramati airport and resulted in the deaths of Ajit Pawar and four others.

Political Leaders Seek Answers

Nationalist Congress Party (SP) MP Supriya Sule expressed concern over suggestions of foul play and said she expects answers from the Civil Aviation Ministry.

She stated that questions raised by party leaders and citizens should be addressed publicly and discussed in Parliament. Sule added that such tragedies must be thoroughly investigated to ensure they do not recur.

NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar also criticised the pace of the investigation, questioning whether delays could allow evidence to be compromised. He said concerns raised by citizens must be taken seriously and indicated he would address the issue further at a press conference.

No Official Response Yet

As of now, there has been no official response from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) or the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau regarding claims about damage to the aircraft’s black box.

Aviation experts note that flight recorders are engineered to withstand extreme impact, heat, and water exposure to preserve critical data for investigations.

Demand for Transparency and Accountability

The incident has sparked widespread concern among citizens and political leaders, with calls for a transparent investigation and clear communication from authorities.

The tragedy has not only raised safety questions but also highlighted the importance of strict maintenance standards, regulatory oversight, and timely accident investigations.

As the investigation continues, family members and political leaders are urging authorities to ensure accountability and provide answers to the public regarding the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
