Alia Bhatt Calls Love and War “Very Special” Amid Reports of 2026 Release Delay

Actor Alia Bhatt has described Love and War as a “very special film,” amid reports suggesting a delay in its release. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the romantic drama also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles.

Speaking about the project, Alia said the team has been shooting throughout the year and that the experience never feels complete, as there is always a desire to spend more time exploring scenes and performances. She called working with Bhansali one of the most fulfilling creative experiences of her career, praising his attention to detail and the quiet, focused energy he brings to the set.

The actor added that while Bhansali’s vision ultimately shapes the film, the process remains deeply collaborative, with every cast and crew member contributing creatively. She described the environment on set as intense yet rewarding, calling it one of her most cherished professional journeys.

According to industry reports, Love and War was initially planned for an Eid 2026 release. However, with the film’s shooting schedule now extended until May 2026, the makers are reportedly considering an August or September 2026 release instead. An official release date is yet to be announced.

Sources indicate that Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal have blocked their calendars until May 2026 to accommodate the extended shoot. The delay is also said to have led to an increase in the film’s production budget and has reportedly impacted scheduling for other projects involving the lead actors.

Reports further suggest that the first look of Love and War may be unveiled in January 2026, though there has been no official confirmation from the makers so far. The film marks Bhansali’s reunion with Ranbir Kapoor after nearly two decades, adding to the anticipation surrounding the project.

Apart from Love and War, Alia Bhatt is also set to appear in Yash Raj Films’ female-led espionage thriller Alpha, slated for release in 2026.
