Amethi Schools Shut for Classes 1 to 8 Till December 24 Due to Cold Wave

Schools in Amethi have been closed for students of Classes 1 to 8 till December 24, 2025, as a severe cold wave continues to grip the region, prompting precautionary measures by the district administration.

According to an official order issued by the District Basic Education Office, all government, aided, recognised, and private schools in the district will remain shut for younger students on December 23 and 24. The decision has been taken in view of falling temperatures and the health risks posed to children during extreme winter conditions.

Officials said young students are particularly vulnerable to cold-related illnesses, and the temporary closure is aimed at ensuring their safety.

The order, however, clarifies that teachers and non-teaching staff are required to report to schools as per their regular schedules. Block Education Officers have been directed to strictly enforce the order, while school managements have been instructed to promptly inform parents and guardians about the closure.

Authorities added that weather conditions are being closely monitored and further decisions will be taken if the cold wave persists. The district administration reiterated that student safety remains its top priority during adverse weather conditions.

Amethi is among several districts in Uttar Pradesh that have announced school closures or revised schedules as winter intensifies across northern India.
