India is set for one of the most closely watched economic events of the year as Nirmala Sitharaman prepares to present the Union Budget 2026–27 in Parliament on Sunday, February 1, 2026. The Budget presentation is a major moment in the country’s policy calendar, shaping expectations around taxation, government spending, welfare schemes, infrastructure investment and fiscal discipline.
The Finance Minister will rise in the Lok Sabha at 11 am Indian Standard Time (IST) to deliver the annual Budget speech. Despite falling on a Sunday this year, the timing follows the long-standing convention of presenting the Union Budget at 11 am, allowing markets, institutions and citizens across the country to track the announcements in real time.
The Budget speech is expected to last between one hour and ninety minutes, during which Sitharaman will outline the government’s financial roadmap for the coming fiscal year. The speech typically covers headline tax proposals, major allocations for key ministries, fiscal deficit targets and policy signals for sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare and education.
The Union Budget 2026 presentation will begin promptly at 11 am on February 1 inside Parliament House in New Delhi. Viewers are advised to tune in a few minutes early to ensure uninterrupted access to the opening proceedings, including the Finance Minister’s arrival and formal commencement of the session.
The Budget speech will be broadcast live across multiple television platforms to ensure nationwide access.
Sansad TV will carry the complete live telecast directly from Parliament.
Doordarshan (DD National) will air the speech live, continuing its role as the public broadcaster for key constitutional events.
Several national private news channels will also telecast the Budget presentation, followed by expert discussions and instant analysis of key announcements.
For viewers preferring to watch online, the government has made extensive digital arrangements:
Sansad TV’s official YouTube channel will live-stream the speech.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) YouTube channel will also carry the live broadcast.
The official Budget portal indiabudget.gov.in will host the live stream, along with real-time access to Budget documents once the speech concludes.
Government social media handles are expected to share direct viewing links and key highlights during the speech.
Once the Finance Minister completes her address, the full Budget documents, including detailed expenditure statements, tax proposals, receipts, and explanatory memoranda, will be uploaded on official government portals. These documents will also be formally tabled in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
Markets, industry bodies, economists and citizens will closely analyse the proposals to assess their impact on inflation, growth, employment and household finances. Budget 2026 is particularly significant as it comes amid global economic uncertainty and domestic expectations for growth-oriented yet fiscally balanced policymaking.
