The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested notorious gangster Harsimran — also known as Badal and Simran — after he was deported from Bangkok on November 26. Acting on months of coordinated intelligence with central agencies, officials took him into custody the moment he landed in Delhi.
The 38-year-old resident of East Shalimar Bagh has a long criminal history, with 23 cases against him. These include extortion, murder, attempted murder, and repeated violations of the Arms Act. Despite facing 14 active trials, he absconded in January 2025 using a fake passport under the name “Rajesh Singh.”
According to investigators, Harsimran was closely linked to gangster Goldy Dhillon and had been planning to expand his criminal operations abroad.
His arrest follows a deep investigation that began in November 2024, when the Special Cell arrested murder accused Mahender Singh. Singh disclosed that his weapons were supplied by Harsimran, sparking renewed efforts to track down the fugitive.
After fleeing India through Lucknow, Harsimran travelled to Bangkok and Dubai, attempting to reach the US and Europe. During his time overseas, he allegedly tried to intimidate witnesses and extort ₹50 lakh, triggering fresh cases.
The Ministry of External Affairs cancelled his passport, and Delhi Police provided detailed intelligence to Thai authorities, who subsequently detained him. He was deported to India and arrested under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
Harsimran initially trained as a wrestler in Delhi and Kolhapur but soon drifted into the criminal world. After working with local gangs, he formed his own network specialising in extortion and violent crime across North-West Delhi. He came into contact with Goldy Dhillon while in jail, a relationship that later helped him attempt to build an international network.
Investigations are ongoing, with agencies now probing his overseas connections and financial routes.
