Faridabad Horror: Woman Allegedly Raped in Moving Van After Accepting Late-Night Lift

A woman in Haryana’s Faridabad was allegedly raped inside a moving van after accepting a late-night lift, before being thrown onto a roadside and left injured, police said. A case has been registered and both accused have been arrested.

According to police, the incident occurred on the night of December 29 when the woman, who lives separately with her husband and mother, left home following a domestic dispute to meet a friend. She later began her return journey around midnight and reached Metro Chowk, where she was searching for a vehicle to go home.

While requesting auto-rickshaw drivers for a ride, an Eco van reportedly stopped and the occupants offered to drop her home. Trusting them, the woman boarded the vehicle. Instead of heading towards her residence, the van was allegedly driven towards the Faridabad–Gurugram road and diverted into a secluded area.

Police said the assault began after the vehicle crossed a temple on the Faridabad–Gurugram stretch. One of the accused continued driving while the other allegedly sexually assaulted the woman inside the moving van. The vehicle reportedly kept moving for nearly two hours, during which the woman resisted but was unable to escape.

At around 3 am on December 30, the accused allegedly pushed the woman out of the moving vehicle and fled the spot. She suffered serious head injuries during the incident and required multiple stitches.

After managing to contact her sister, the woman was taken for medical treatment. She was initially admitted to Faridabad Civil Hospital, where doctors advised referral to AIIMS Delhi due to the severity of her injuries. She is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Faridabad.

Police said the woman’s family lodged a formal complaint later that day, following which multiple teams were formed to trace the accused. Both men, residents of Faridabad, were arrested shortly after. Authorities said medical treatment is ongoing and further investigation is underway.
