IIT Guwahati Releases Full GATE 2026 Exam Schedule

IIT Guwahati has officially published the complete paper-wise schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, giving aspirants a clear roadmap months before the national-level exam. The detailed timetable, including exam dates, paper codes and shift slots, is now available on the official portal.

The early release of the schedule allows candidates to plan their preparation strategy, avoid clashes and stay aligned with key exam-day requirements.

GATE 2026 Exam Dates and Shift Timings

The exam will be conducted over two consecutive weekends:

  • February 7, 2026

  • February 8, 2026

  • February 14, 2026

  • February 15, 2026

Each day will have two sessions:

  • Forenoon: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

  • Afternoon: 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Candidates must verify their slot and paper timing carefully to avoid last-minute confusion.

IIT Guwahati has also confirmed that the GATE 2026 results will be declared on March 19, 2026.

Application Process and Coordination with UPSC

Registrations opened on August 25, with the regular deadline ending on September 28, followed by a late-fee window until October 9.

In a major relief to aspirants appearing for both exams, the organising committee coordinated with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to prevent clashes with the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2026.

Exam Structure and Paper Details

GATE 2026 will be held for 30 papers across:

  • Engineering

  • Technology

  • Science

  • Architecture

  • Interdisciplinary fields

The exam will include:

  • MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions)

  • MSQs (Multiple Select Questions)

  • NAT (Numerical Answer Type)

GATE scores are valid for three years and are widely used for admissions to IITs, NITs, IISc and for PSU recruitment processes.
