MP College Launches Hindi-Medium BTech Civil Engineering with Rs 2 Lakh Incentive

Shri G S Institute of Technology and Science in Indore has introduced a Hindi-medium BTech programme in civil engineering from the 2026-27 academic session, offering students the opportunity to study technical subjects in their mother tongue. Students admitted to the programme will also be eligible for a Rs 2 lakh incentive from the Madhya Pradesh government during their final year.

The autonomous aided institute has reserved 30 seats for the Hindi-medium civil engineering programme, with around 20 seats already filled.

The initiative has been introduced in line with efforts to make technical education more accessible for students who completed their schooling in Hindi medium. Many students from Hindi-medium backgrounds face difficulties when they enter engineering programmes where technical subjects are taught primarily in English.

The language barrier can make it harder for students to understand complex concepts and, in some cases, can affect their ability to continue with technical education. The Hindi-medium BTech programme aims to help students focus on engineering concepts without first having to overcome language-related challenges.

Students enrolled in the civil engineering course will be able to study and appear for examinations in Hindi. The programme is the result of several years of preparation by faculty members and subject experts.

The institute spent around four years translating and adapting English-language technical learning material into Hindi. Workshops were also organised to prepare teachers to deliver engineering education effectively in Hindi.

The programme is expected to make difficult engineering subjects easier to understand for students who are more comfortable learning in Hindi. However, the course will continue to include English-language training to ensure that students develop the communication skills required for higher education and professional careers.

The objective is not to separate Hindi-medium education from English but to create a balance where students can learn complex technical concepts in their preferred language while continuing to build the English proficiency needed in the engineering and employment sectors.

The launch of the Hindi-medium BTech civil engineering programme marks another step towards expanding access to technical education through Indian languages. The initiative could help more Hindi-medium students pursue engineering without language becoming a major barrier to understanding technical subjects.
