The wait for one of India's biggest cinematic spectacles is finally over. The makers of Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, have officially announced that Ramayana: Part 1 will release in theatres on November 6, 2026, just two days ahead of Diwali.
Along with the release date announcement, producer Namit Malhotra also unveiled a new English-language trailer, giving audiences a fresh glimpse of the mythological epic with characters delivering dialogues entirely in English.
English Trailer Creates Buzz Online
Unlike a traditional dubbed version, the newly released trailer features the film's characters speaking English dialogues throughout the preview.
The trailer has generated significant discussion on social media, with many users speculating that advanced AI-powered localization technology may have been used to recreate lip-sync and dialogue delivery. While some online users linked the trailer to Brahma AI, the filmmakers have not officially confirmed the technology behind the English version.
Earlier, producer Namit Malhotra had stated that cutting-edge technology would be used to localise the film for global audiences across multiple languages.
Sony Pictures Announces Two-Part Release Plan
Sony Pictures officially confirmed the theatrical release schedule through its social media platforms.
-
Ramayana: Part 1 – November 6, 2026
-
Ramayana: Part 2 – Expected around Diwali 2027
While the second chapter is expected to arrive during the 2027 festive season, an exact release date is yet to be announced.
Trailer Revisits the Epic Journey of Lord Ram
The trailer opens with Yash's Ravana declaring himself the ruler of all three worlds before unleashing destruction.
To restore balance, Lord Vishnu takes the avatar of Ram, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor.
The footage introduces the central storyline as Ram protects his kingdom, marries Sita, played by Sai Pallavi, and is later exiled for fourteen years. Accompanied by Lakshman, portrayed by Ravie Dubey, and Sita, Ram embarks on his journey before Ravana abducts Sita, setting the stage for the legendary battle between good and evil.
Ranbir Kapoor on Bringing Ramayana to the Big Screen
Speaking previously about the project, Ranbir Kapoor admitted that condensing one of the world's greatest epics into two films was an enormous creative challenge.
According to the actor, the Ramayana could easily be told over multiple installments, but the team worked hard to present the story in a concise yet emotionally impactful manner across two films.
Ranbir also dismissed suggestions that the epic required a modern reinterpretation.
He said the timeless values of courage, righteousness, compassion, forgiveness, sacrifice and the triumph of good over evil continue to resonate across generations, making the Ramayana universally relevant even today.
Star Cast of Ramayana
The ambitious mythological adaptation features an ensemble cast including:
-
Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram
-
Sai Pallavi as Sita
-
Yash as Ravana
-
Ravie Dubey as Lakshman
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the two-part epic is among the most anticipated Indian films in recent years and is expected to be one of the biggest theatrical releases of 2026.
