UP Floods: 173 Villages in 13 Districts Affected, Over 84,000 People Hit

Flooding has affected 173 villages across 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh, impacting 84,362 people and around 13,058 hectares of land, according to officials.

The state government said the overall flood situation remains under control, while district administrations continue rescue, relief and monitoring operations in affected areas.

The districts reporting flood impact include Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Barabanki, Bijnor, Farrukhabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Gonda, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Muzaffarnagar, Sitapur and Unnao.

Authorities have been instructed to move residents from vulnerable areas to safer locations and ensure that affected families receive food, medical assistance and other essential supplies.

4,845 people shifted to safer areas

So far, 4,845 people have been evacuated from flood-affected locations and moved to safer areas.

Officials have prepared 1,263 flood shelters across Uttar Pradesh, of which 41 are currently being used. Around 1,045 people are staying in these shelters.

The state has also established 1,589 flood outposts to monitor water levels and respond to emergencies.

District authorities have been directed to keep the flood outposts operational and maintain continuous monitoring of rivers and vulnerable areas.

Boats and rescue teams deployed

A total of 428 boats and motorboats have been deployed for rescue and relief operations across affected districts.

Authorities have also deployed 1,101 local divers to assist with emergency operations.

Sixteen National Disaster Response Force teams are currently positioned across the state, while State Disaster Response Force personnel have been deployed in several districts.

Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel have also been posted across 52 districts as part of the state's emergency response arrangements.

Food and relief supplies distributed

Relief agencies have distributed 15,238 food-grain packets and 30,316 lunch packets among people affected by the floods.

The state control room is maintaining continuous communication with flood-hit districts to track developments and coordinate rescue and relief operations.

Officials are also responding to complaints and emergency information received through the 1070 helpline.

Flood warnings sent to residents

Authorities have been using mobile alerts and social media to keep residents informed about weather and flood-related risks.

Between August 1 and August 18, more than 140.52 crore SMS alerts were reportedly sent to the public to communicate warnings issued by the weather department.

The government has also continued sharing information about flood safety and disaster preparedness through social media platforms.

With river levels and weather conditions being monitored continuously, district administrations have been instructed to remain prepared to evacuate residents and deploy additional rescue resources if required.
