Inland Port in Jalore to Link Rajasthan With Arabian Sea via Kandla Port

Rajasthan is set to witness a major boost in trade and connectivity as an inland port will be developed in Jalore district, providing the state with a direct link to the Arabian Sea via Kandla Port in Gujarat. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Suresh Rawat, marking a significant step in strengthening the region’s logistics and economic infrastructure.

According to the minister, the proposed inland port will transform Jalore into a strategic logistics hub, enabling smoother movement of goods between Rajasthan and global markets accessible through the Kandla Port. This initiative is expected to reduce transportation costs, shorten freight transit time, and enhance export competitiveness for industries across the state, particularly in sectors like marble, granite, minerals, agriculture, and handicrafts.

The development of the port is also aligned with Rajasthan’s long-term vision of improving multi-modal connectivity. By linking Jalore with a major maritime gateway, the state aims to support industrial clusters, encourage new investments, and generate employment opportunities in surrounding regions.

Officials stated that the inland port project would integrate advanced logistics facilities, storage units, and efficient cargo-handling systems to streamline export-import operations. It is expected to benefit districts such as Jodhpur, Pali, Sirohi, Barmer, and other western regions that rely heavily on transportation through distant ports.

Experts believe that this initiative will play a crucial role in strengthening the economic corridor between Rajasthan and Gujarat. The improved connectivity to Kandla Port—one of India’s busiest maritime gateways—will open new markets for Rajasthan-based businesses and support the state’s goal of becoming a competitive logistics hub in northern India.

Minister Suresh Rawat emphasized that the inland port project demonstrates the government’s commitment to infrastructure modernization and regional development. Once operational, the port is likely to attract significant industrial activity and contribute to overall economic growth in the state.

With Rajasthan gaining direct access to the Arabian Sea route, the upcoming inland port in Jalore is set to become a landmark development, positioning the state more prominently on India’s trade and logistics map.
