Kabaddi Player Murder Case: Mastermind Killed in Punjab Encounter, Accused Arrested

Punjab Police on Thursday eliminated the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Kabaddi player Rana Balachauria in an encounter near Lalru, marking a significant breakthrough in the high-profile case.

According to officials, the accused, Harpinder Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran, opened fire on a police team during an operation. He was carrying a Zigana pistol and was neutralised in retaliatory action. Police said the encounter took place after intelligence inputs confirmed his location.

In another major development, Punjab Police arrested Aishdeep Singh, one of the prime accused in the case, from Delhi Airport as he attempted to flee the country. He was intercepted while trying to board a flight to Muscat. Investigators revealed that Aishdeep had recently arrived from Moscow and was allegedly involved in planning the murder.

Authorities stated that both accused played crucial roles in the conspiracy that led to the killing of the Kabaddi player, which had triggered widespread outrage across Punjab.

Meanwhile, the incident has escalated political tensions in the state. Congress MP and former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi criticised the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order. He said the killing highlighted serious concerns over public safety and criminal activity in Punjab.

Punjab Police officials maintained that investigations are ongoing and further arrests may follow as they continue to dismantle the network involved in the crime.
