Kiara Advani Trained With International Artists for Cirque-Style Act in Toxic

Actor Kiara Advani is set to return to the big screen with an ambitious and physically demanding role in Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas. The upcoming film, headlined by Yash, is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026, and promises a cinematic experience unlike anything seen in mainstream Indian cinema.

The first teaser of Toxic was unveiled on Thursday to mark Yash’s birthday, offering a glimpse into the film’s distinctive visual world. Among the highlights was Kiara Advani’s introduction, set in a striking circus-themed environment that immediately sparked curiosity. It has now emerged that Kiara plays the role of an acrobat, with key sequences staged within a circus-like setting that forms an integral part of the narrative.

According to sources close to the production, the makers aimed to create a visual language that would stand apart from conventional Indian film aesthetics. To achieve this, Kiara underwent extensive training with an international team of performers and choreographers. Her preparation involved working closely with global artists experienced in high-level acrobatics to ensure authenticity, precision, and innovation in her performance.

The training was inspired by Cirque du Soleil-style performances, marking a first for a mainstream Indian feature film. International artists were not only brought in to train Kiara but were also involved in conceptualising, designing, and rehearsing the elaborate acrobatic sequences. The goal, the team says, was to deliver a visually immersive act that matches global standards while pushing the boundaries of Indian cinematic storytelling.

Sources describe Kiara’s character, Nadia, as fearless, raw, and intense — a persona that blends grace with physical strength. The role required rigorous physical conditioning, flexibility training, and sustained rehearsals, making it one of the most challenging performances of her career. Kiara has previously acknowledged that Toxic demanded more from her than any of her earlier roles, both physically and emotionally.

Director Geetu Mohandas has publicly praised Kiara’s dedication and transformation for the film. In a recent note, Mohandas described the performance as “transformative,” adding that the actor brought deep commitment, trust, and emotional investment into the role. The director noted that Kiara’s on-screen presence adds a powerful dimension to the film’s narrative and visual identity.

Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups features a strong ensemble cast, including Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, alongside Kiara and Yash. The film is being shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, underlining its ambition to reach a global audience.

With its blend of stylised storytelling, international-scale visuals, and unconventional character arcs, Toxic is positioned as one of the most experimental big-budget Indian films of 2026. The film’s release will coincide with another major title, setting the stage for a high-profile box office clash, and further heightening anticipation around Kiara Advani’s bold new avatar.
