Margot Robbie has leaned into a darkly romantic, literature-inspired aesthetic for the press tour of the upcoming film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, transforming fashion into an extension of narrative rather than a mere promotional tool. Guided by stylist Andrew Mukamal, Robbie’s wardrobe draws directly from the psychological intensity and emotional turbulence of Emily Brontë’s iconic novel.
The styling direction marks a notable departure from Robbie’s past promotional appearances, which often favoured polished glamour or playful modernity. This time, the emphasis is on conceptual storytelling. Instead of replicating period costumes, the looks reinterpret the novel’s gothic essence through contemporary silhouettes, textures and symbolism, allowing the fashion to echo the story’s emotional undercurrents rather than its historical setting.
Central to the visual narrative are designs from Victoria Beckham’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection. Mukamal has described the approach as translating emotion into clothing, capturing themes of obsession, fragility and restraint that define Wuthering Heights. One key literary moment informed the styling: a scene in which Catherine Earnshaw, consumed by fever and emotional turmoil, tears apart the feathers of her pillow. That imagery became the conceptual anchor for two of Robbie’s most talked-about looks.
The first appearance, referred to as a “White Swan” moment, featured an ivory feathered mini dress with a sleeveless cut and plunging V-neckline. The feather-like appliqués and softly textured fabric added movement and delicacy, reflecting Catherine’s vulnerability. Styled with minimal accessories and nude ankle-strap heels, the look balanced drama with restraint, ensuring the craftsmanship remained the focal point.
In contrast, Robbie’s second ensemble explored the darker side of the character’s psyche. She appeared in a sharply structured black sleeveless top embellished with matte feathers, paired with wide-leg tailored trousers. The look leaned into controlled intensity, reinforced by tinted sunglasses, tousled hair and pared-back makeup. The absence of overt historical references kept the aesthetic firmly modern while preserving its gothic undertone.
The thematic continuity extended beyond Victoria Beckham’s designs. Robbie also appeared in a black lace Alexander McQueen dress and a Victorian-inspired gown by Roberto Cavalli. Elements such as lacework, bell sleeves and high-low hemlines subtly referenced Catherine Earnshaw’s complexity, complemented by accessories including velvet chokers and classic heels.
The literary influence even informed personal gestures. Robbie reportedly gifted co-star Jacob Elordi custom gold rings crafted by Cece Jewellery, symbolising the enduring bond between Heathcliff and Catherine. Engraved with Brontë’s famous line — “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same” — the rings encapsulate the spirit of the press tour itself.
Through carefully curated fashion, Robbie’s Wuthering Heights promotions present a contemporary reimagining of classic literature, proving that style can function as storytelling when approached with intention and depth.
