The MPSC postponement has affected three major Maharashtra Public Service Commission examinations scheduled to begin from October 3, 2026. The State Services Main Examination 2026, Maharashtra Civil Engineering Main Examination 2026 and Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination 2026 have all been deferred.
The commission said revised dates for the examinations will be announced separately. The decision follows representations from candidates, parents, student organisations and elected representatives seeking changes to the examination schedule.
Why has MPSC postponed the examinations?
The decision comes amid concerns raised by MPSC aspirants over the commission’s examination procedures. Protests have also taken place following allegations of a question paper leak in the Drug Inspector examination.
After considering the representations received from different stakeholders, MPSC decided to defer all three examinations. However, the commission has not yet provided fresh dates, leaving candidates waiting for clarity on the revised examination calendar.
The postponement is expected to affect preparation schedules for thousands of aspirants who had been preparing for the October examinations.
MPSC orders re-evaluation of 2025 answer sheets
Alongside postponing the three examinations, MPSC has ordered the re-evaluation of answer sheets from the Maharashtra State Services Main Examination 2025.
Candidates and student organisations had raised objections regarding the evaluation process. The commission has acknowledged that the re-evaluation exercise could further delay the examination process.
A high-level committee headed by senior bureaucrat V Radha is separately reviewing the commission’s existing examination system. The committee has consulted candidates and other stakeholders and examined examination practices followed in other places.
The committee is expected to submit recommendations aimed at improving the examination system.
What MPSC aspirants should do now
Candidates appearing for the State Services Mains 2026, Civil Engineering Mains and Group-B Mains will need to wait for the commission’s revised schedule.
Aspirants should continue preparing according to the existing syllabus and keep checking official MPSC communications for updates on examination dates. Candidates awaiting the outcome of the 2025 State Services Mains will also have to wait for the re-evaluation process to conclude.
