Mumbai University APAAR ID Mandatory for Exams, 30-Minute Early Reporting Rule Announced

Mumbai University has announced major changes to its examination procedures for the 2026-27 academic year. Under the revised rules, students will need an APAAR ID to download their examination hall tickets, while all candidates will be required to report to their examination centres at least 30 minutes before the exam begins.

The new measures are aimed at streamlining student identification, authentication and examination-related procedures across affiliated colleges and institutions.

APAAR ID Mandatory for Mumbai University Hall Tickets

The Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) is a 12-digit identification system designed to digitally link and maintain students' academic records.

From the 2026-27 academic session, Mumbai University students will be required to submit their APAAR ID as part of the process for generating and downloading examination hall tickets.

Students who fail to complete the required APAAR-related formalities could face difficulties accessing their hall tickets.

The decision was taken following approvals and discussions involving the university's Board of Examinations and Evaluation, Management Council and Academic Council.

Students Must Reach Exam Hall 30 Minutes Before Start Time

Mumbai University has also introduced a mandatory early reporting requirement for students appearing in university examinations.

Under the new rule, candidates must be present inside the examination hall at least 30 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the exam.

For example, if an examination begins at 10:30 am, students will be expected to report to the examination hall by 10 am.

The university said the additional time will help examination authorities complete:

  • Student identity verification
  • Seating arrangements
  • Attendance and authentication procedures
  • Other pre-examination formalities

Students have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid arriving at the last minute.

Mumbai University Organises APAAR and Aadhaar Facilitation Camp

To assist students facing difficulties with APAAR ID creation, ABC ID linking or Aadhaar authentication, Mumbai University has organised a special Aadhaar facilitation camp.

The camp was scheduled for August 19 and 20, 2026, to help students resolve technical and authentication-related issues.

Students attending the facilitation process have been advised to carry their Aadhaar card and other necessary documents required for verification.

What Mumbai University Students Need to Do

Students appearing for Mumbai University examinations from the 2026-27 academic year should ensure that they:

  1. Complete their APAAR ID registration.
  2. Check whether their academic and identity details are correctly linked.
  3. Resolve any Aadhaar or ABC ID authentication issues before the examination process.
  4. Ensure they can access their examination hall ticket.
  5. Reach the examination centre at least 30 minutes before the scheduled exam time.

The revised rules mark a shift towards greater digital integration in Mumbai University's examination system, with APAAR-based identification becoming an important requirement for students appearing in university examinations.
