Chhattisgarh University Cancels BSc Agriculture Exam After 70% Questions Match WhatsApp Paper

Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in Raipur has cancelled its BSc Agriculture second-year Agricultural Entomology examination after a question paper circulated on WhatsApp shortly before the scheduled test, triggering allegations of a possible paper leak.

The examination was scheduled to be held on August 20 at 10 am across colleges affiliated with the university. University officials received information about a possible question paper leak around an hour before the examination, after the dean's office received an email raising concerns over the matter.

Although the email did not contain a copy of the alleged leaked question paper, a document soon began circulating in student WhatsApp groups. The circulating paper was claimed to be the question paper for the Agricultural Entomology examination.

According to university officials, the document circulating on WhatsApp did not completely match the actual examination paper. However, around 70 per cent of the questions were reportedly found to be similar, leading the university to cancel the examination.

The university informed its affiliated colleges that the examination had been cancelled for administrative reasons. A revised examination is expected to be conducted in the first week of September, with the new date to be announced separately.

A four-member committee has been constituted to investigate the incident and determine whether there was an actual question paper leak. The probe is also expected to examine how the document circulating on WhatsApp came to resemble a substantial portion of the original examination paper.

The incident triggered protests among students, who alleged that the question paper had appeared on social media nearly two hours before the scheduled examination. Students submitted a memorandum to the university administration, demanding a detailed investigation and action against those responsible.

The Chhattisgarh government has also taken note of the matter and assured strict action against anyone found guilty following the investigation.

Students have been advised to rely on official university notifications and remain in contact with their respective colleges for updates regarding the revised examination schedule.

The findings of the four-member committee will determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged paper leak and whether further action will be taken.
