NSE Shares Rise 5% After Listing at Rs 1,800 on BSE

National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) shares made their stock market debut on Thursday at Rs 1,800 on the BSE, marking a 0.84% premium over the IPO issue price of Rs 1,785. The stock gained further during the session, touching a high of Rs 1,878, or about 5.2% above the issue price.

At the latest update, NSE shares were trading at Rs 1,861.50, up 3.42% from the listing price and 4.29% from the IPO issue price. Trading volume stood at 343.80 lakh shares, with turnover of Rs 6,327.48 crore, while the volume-weighted average price was Rs 1,840.46.

The Rs 22,561.57-crore IPO involved an offer for sale of 12.64 crore shares. The issue was open from September 17 to September 21, with the price band fixed at Rs 1,700-1,785 per share. Overall subscription reached 5.71 times, while the retail category was subscribed 1.39 times. The QIB and NII portions were subscribed 12.68 times and 6.55 times respectively.

At Rs 1,861.50, NSE’s market capitalisation stood at around Rs 4.60 lakh crore. Market analysts highlighted the exchange’s strong position in India’s capital markets but also noted its dependence on trading activity, with nearly 79% of revenue linked to trading volumes. This makes earnings sensitive to market cycles and regulatory changes.
