Operation Sindoor Ongoing, Army Gets Full Freedom to Respond: Army Chief

Operation Sindoor is continuing without pause, and the Indian Army has been granted full operational freedom to act decisively against any security threat, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has confirmed. His remarks underline India’s firm military posture amid ongoing tensions with Pakistan, sending a clear signal that any provocation will invite a strong and proportionate response.

Speaking on the status of the operation, the Army Chief stated that Operation Sindoor remains active and dynamic, with forces maintaining a high level of operational readiness across all theatres. He cautioned that any future misadventure from across the border would be dealt with firmly, emphasizing that India’s response would be swift, decisive, and in line with national security objectives.

General Dwivedi also revealed that during the brief conflict phase in May 2025, the Indian armed forces were fully prepared to escalate their response if circumstances had demanded it. According to him, comprehensive contingency plans were in place, including the option of launching ground operations, had the situation deteriorated further. This preparedness, he noted, reflected India’s evolved military doctrine and its readiness to defend territorial integrity under any circumstances.

Highlighting a significant shift in India’s strategic approach, the Army Chief stated that the scope for conventional military action has expanded considerably. This evolution allows the Indian Army greater flexibility in responding to emerging threats while maintaining escalation control.
