OTOddy is attempting to change the traditional model of driver hiring by allowing customers to book verified professional drivers only for the time they actually need.
The Delhi-based mobility startup was founded by Mohit Makhijani, Shashank Shekhar Pandey and Shivam Shukla after the founders encountered inefficiencies in both personal and corporate driver hiring.
Traditional arrangements often involve half-day or full-day payments even when a driver is required for only a short period. For businesses operating large employee transportation fleets, paying drivers during idle periods can also add to operating costs.
From a Daily Driver to an On-Demand Model
The idea behind OTOddy emerged from these recurring inefficiencies. Instead of requiring customers to hire a driver for a fixed shift, the platform allows them to select verified drivers based on hourly rates.
Customers can choose their preferred driver, while drivers have greater control over when and where they work. The model is designed to create additional earning opportunities for drivers who may not want to commit to conventional full-day schedules.
A Flexible Model for Drivers
OTOddy's platform is built around flexible working arrangements. Drivers can participate without purchasing a vehicle specifically for the job and can choose shorter assignments according to their availability.
The company positions this model as a way to create a more flexible driver ecosystem, particularly for licensed drivers seeking part-time or additional income opportunities.
For customers, hourly booking can also reduce the need to pay for unused driver time.
Expanding Across Delhi NCR
OTOddy's network covers areas including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad. Its platform incorporates features such as driver matching, real-time tracking, transparent billing and digital safety measures.
The model can be relevant for several common use cases, including airport journeys, office travel, medical visits, shopping trips and other situations where a customer may need a driver temporarily rather than throughout an entire day.
A Corporate Mobility Use Case
The company is also targeting corporate transportation. Businesses that maintain employee transportation systems can use on-demand driver hiring to address situations where drivers may remain idle between assignments.
OTOddy says its approach can help companies improve utilisation and gain greater visibility into transportation operations through digital tracking and usage information.
Building a Flexible Driver Economy
The broader idea behind OTOddy is to connect driver availability with actual demand rather than fixed working shifts.
By combining verified drivers, hourly pricing and digital booking, the startup is attempting to create a more flexible alternative to conventional driver hiring. Its current focus is Delhi NCR, while the company has outlined plans to expand into additional metropolitan and Tier 2 cities.
The model brings together three elements: customers paying according to usage, drivers gaining more control over their working hours, and businesses seeking greater efficiency in transportation operations.
