The Puranic’s Bhagavad Gita series moves from the royal court of Hastinapur to the battlefield of Kurukshetra in Episode 2, bringing viewers closer to the setting where Krishna and Arjuna’s famous dialogue is about to unfold. Following Episode 1 and Sanjaya’s divine vision, the latest episode establishes the scale of the conflict and introduces the forces gathered for the war.
The Battlefield Before the War
The episode opens with a wide view of Kurukshetra, where thousands of soldiers, chariots, elephants and horses stand assembled across the battlefield. Flags rise above the formations as dust fills the air, creating an atmosphere of tension before the first battle begins.
Through Sanjaya’s narration to Dhritarashtra, viewers are introduced to the conflict between the Pandavas and Kauravas, two sides belonging to the same Kuru lineage. The five Pandava brothers and the hundred Kaurava brothers stand on opposite sides despite their shared family connection.
The episode presents Kurukshetra as more than the location of a military confrontation. It becomes the setting for a larger conflict involving questions of duty, justice, power and dharma. As the camera moves across the battlefield, the scale of the armies becomes increasingly visible, with warriors, horses, elephants and chariots preparing for the confrontation.
The narrative then begins shifting towards Krishna and Arjuna, whose chariot is positioned among the assembled forces. This transition marks an important point in the Bhagavad Gita story because the battlefield will soon become the setting for a philosophical conversation that extends beyond the immediate war.
Through Krishna’s dialogue with Arjuna, questions surrounding duty, action, knowledge, devotion and the nature of the self will become central to the narrative. The battlefield therefore serves as both the physical setting of the conflict and the backdrop for a deeper exploration of dharma and human responsibility.
Episode 2 acts as a bridge between the preparation for war and the philosophical dialogue at the heart of the Bhagavad Gita. As Sanjaya’s narration reaches Krishna and Arjuna’s chariot, the series moves closer to the moment when the teachings of the Gita begin.
The Puranic’s Bhagavad Gita series continues across its digital platforms, presenting the traditional narrative sequentially while exploring the context and ideas surrounding the text.
