Pakistan May Shift Imran Khan From Adiala Jail as Protests Intensify

Pakistan’s government is considering shifting former Prime Minister Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to another prison, possibly Attock Jail, amid rising protests outside the facility. The Punjab government has begun consultations with federal authorities as demonstrations by Khan’s supporters intensify.

According to Ikhtiar Wali Khan, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Information, the protests are disrupting public life, and he accused Khan’s supporters of attempting to create unrest under the pretext of dissent.

Tensions escalated recently when police used water cannons to disperse Khan’s sisters and supporters after they were denied permission to meet him. The developments underline the growing political friction in Pakistan as the government weighs security concerns, public order, and the treatment of the jailed former premier.
