The Ramayana 2 release date may be pushed from Diwali 2027 to Diwali 2028, according to reports suggesting that producer Namit Malhotra is considering a revised production schedule. The makers have not officially confirmed the proposed change, which would extend the gap between the two instalments of director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological adaptation.
The first instalment, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 5, 2026. The second film was initially planned for release around a year later. However, additional filming requirements and the scale of the concluding instalment are reportedly prompting discussions about a longer production timeline.
According to a report cited in the source, the second film requires more shooting time, particularly for its extensive war sequences. If the revised schedule is approved, the additional time could allow the production team to complete these scenes and work on the film’s overall presentation.
The reported postponement remains unconfirmed, and audiences are awaiting an official announcement from the filmmakers.
Ramayana Advance Bookings Show Early Momentum
The first instalment has reportedly generated considerable interest ahead of its theatrical release. According to trade figures cited in the source, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend had sold more than 1.47 lakh tickets across 3,964 shows by 11:42 am on October 23, 2026.
Advance gross collections stood at ₹8.27 crore when blocked seats were included and ₹6.25 crore when they were excluded. The number of tracked shows and ticket sales had also increased compared with earlier figures, indicating growing interest before the festive release.
Premium formats, including IMAX and 4DX, were reportedly contributing to early demand. However, substantial ticket inventory remained available at the time of the reported figures, leaving room for bookings to increase as cinemas finalise their schedules.
Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi Lead the Cast
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film is planned for release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. It is being produced by Namit Malhotra, with Prime Focus Studios, DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations associated with the project.
The second instalment is expected to continue the epic story, with its reported war sequences forming a major part of the narrative.
