The Delhi traffic advisory has warned commuters of restrictions around Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and parts of Connaught Place from 1 pm to 5 pm on October 23 due to a protest called by left organisations.

According to the advisory details provided, vehicular movement will be restricted on the stretch between Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and the Election Commission office. Protesters are expected to march from the gurudwara towards the Election Commission and Jantar Mantar.

Commuters travelling between the inner and outer circles of Connaught Place have been advised to avoid the affected routes during the specified hours and plan their journeys accordingly.

Why Are Organisations Planning the Protest?

The demonstration has been called to oppose the reported de-notification of Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site. Protesters are also demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.

The planned march is expected to affect traffic around key locations in central Delhi, including areas near Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, the Election Commission office and Jantar Mantar.

Delhi Police Deploys Security, Section 163 Imposed

Delhi Police has reportedly deployed extensive security arrangements, including detention buses outside the police headquarters and along adjoining routes, ahead of the demonstration.

Authorities have also imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita across the area, according to the information provided. The provision allows restrictions on assemblies and certain activities when necessary to prevent potential disturbances.

Police have stated that permission has not been granted for the planned demonstration. Commuters and members of the public should follow police instructions and avoid restricted areas.

Commuters Advised to Plan Travel

People travelling through central Delhi during the afternoon have been advised to allow additional time for their journeys and use alternative routes where possible.

Those heading towards Connaught Place, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib or nearby government offices should check for further traffic updates before leaving.

The restrictions are scheduled to remain in effect from 1 pm to 5 pm. Commuters should follow directions issued by Delhi Traffic Police and on-ground personnel as the situation develops.
