Sigma box office Day 1 collections reached Rs 2.35 crore net across India, according to trade estimates, as Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut opened in theatres on October 2. The action-comedy stars Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah in the lead roles.
The film recorded an estimated domestic gross of Rs 2.70 crore, with 221,679 footfalls across 1,813 shows nationwide. Its overall opening-day occupancy stood at 31.1 per cent.
The Tamil version emerged as the biggest contributor to the opening, collecting Rs 1.50 crore net from 925 shows with 50.10 per cent occupancy. The Telugu version added Rs 85 lakh net from 888 shows, recording 25.94 per cent occupancy.
Tamil Nadu Leads Collections
Tamil Nadu remained the largest contributor to Sigma’s opening-day gross, generating Rs 1.30 crore. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed Rs 1 crore, while Karnataka added Rs 25 lakh.
Kerala contributed Rs 12 lakh, with the remaining regions accounting for Rs 3 lakh. This brought the film’s total India gross to Rs 2.70 crore on Day 1.
The Hindi version recorded 43.44 per cent overall occupancy, with night shows performing strongest at 51.69 per cent. The Telugu version saw 25.94 per cent occupancy overall, with evening shows recording 31.10 per cent.
Critical Response
While Sigma managed to establish a presence across multiple markets, its critical reception has been mixed. Reviews have raised concerns about the film’s execution and its handling of the heist elements.
The film marks Jason Sanjay’s first outing as a director and has attracted attention because of his family background and entry into Tamil cinema.
