SSC JE 2025: Final Exam-City Selection Window Opens; Key Dates, Rules & Exam Details

SSC JE 2025: Final Exam-City Selection Window Opens; Key Dates, Rules & Exam Details

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has opened a final correction window for candidates of the Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2025 who failed to select their exam city during the earlier self-slotting period. This rare move comes as the Commission prepares for one of its heaviest recruitment years, with 5,308 vacancies each for the JE and Sub-Inspector (SI) posts.

According to the latest notice, candidates who missed selecting their exam city can now choose their preferred options through the feedback module on their SSC login dashboard. This facility will remain active until 11 am on November 28, 2025. SSC has stated that while it will attempt to accommodate preferences, exam city allotment will be on a best-effort basis, and first choices are not guaranteed.

No Centre, No Admit Card

SSC has issued a strict warning:
Candidates who ignore this final opportunity will not be allotted any exam centre, and consequently, no admit card for JE Paper 1 will be issued to them.

Meanwhile, candidates who successfully completed the self-slotting between November 10 and 13 will see their city-live status activated starting November 25, 2025.

Important SSC JE 2025 Dates

  • Self-slotting for JE Paper I: November 10–13, 2025

  • Self-slotting for SI Paper I: November 17–21, 2025

  • Final exam-city selection window: Until 11 am, November 28, 2025

  • JE Paper 1 (CBT): October 27–31, 2025

  • JE Paper 2 (CBT): January–February 2026 (Tentative)

  • Application deadline: July 21, 2025

SSC noted earlier that once exam-city choices were locked, no edits would be permitted. The new window is an exceptional concession, introduced as applicant numbers rise sharply.

Vacancies, Salary & Exam Pattern

The JE Recruitment 2025 drive includes 1,340 vacancies across Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering streams. The posts fall under:

  • Group B (Non-Gazetted)

  • Level-6 of the 7th CPC

  • Salary range: ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 per month

Exam Structure

Candidates will undergo two Computer-Based Tests (Papers 1 and 2), followed by document verification.

  • Paper 1:

    • 200 marks

    • 0.25 negative marking per incorrect answer

  • Paper 2:

    • 300 marks

    • 1 mark deducted per wrong answer

The Commission has advised all applicants to complete the exam-city selection promptly to avoid disqualification at the admit-card stage.
