Udaipur Rape Case: Accused CEO’s IT Firm Rated Itself 4.7 on Women Friendliness

An Udaipur-based IT firm owned by rape-accused CEO Jeetesh Sisodia has come under sharp scrutiny after it emerged that the company had rated itself 4.7 out of 5 on “women-friendliness” parameters, even as a senior female employee accused its top leadership of gangrape.

The case involves GKM IT Private Limited, whose CEO Jeetesh Sisodia, executive head Shilpa Sirohi, and her husband Gaurav have been arrested following allegations of sexual assault after a birthday party earlier this month.

According to the police complaint, Sisodia hosted a birthday celebration at a hotel in Udaipur on December 20, which the survivor attended. As she began feeling intoxicated, she was initially offered help to return home. However, the executive head allegedly persuaded her to attend an after-party instead.

Police said that around 1:45 am, the woman was taken in a car where the CEO and the executive’s husband were already present. During the drive, the accused allegedly bought a substance resembling cigarettes and offered it to her. The survivor claimed she lost consciousness shortly after consuming it.

In her statement, the woman said she regained partial awareness to find Sisodia molesting her, and later alleged that all three accused sexually assaulted her inside the moving vehicle. Despite repeatedly asking to be taken home, she was reportedly dropped only around 5 am.

The survivor further stated that upon regaining full consciousness, she found her earrings, socks and undergarments missing and noticed injuries to her private parts.

Investigators said the car’s dashcam, which allegedly recorded both audio and video of the incident, has emerged as a crucial piece of evidence in the case.

Confirming the arrests, Yogesh Goyal, Superintendent of Police, said the accused were taken into custody after a case was registered at Sukher police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and were sent on four-day police remand by a local court.

The incident has raised serious questions about workplace safety claims, internal compliance mechanisms and the credibility of self-assessed corporate ratings on gender sensitivity.
