The Rhiti Tiwari family has denied claims made by Punjabi singer Ekam Bawa, who has publicly described himself as her stepfather and the husband of her mother, Pratima Pandey. The Bigg Boss 20 contestant’s family has called the claims false and baseless and has issued a legal notice over the statements.
The notice, issued on behalf of Rhiti Tiwari and Pratima Pandey, states that Bawa does not have the legal status or relationship he has publicly claimed. It also alleges that his statements, videos and social media posts concerning the family are defamatory and damaging to their reputation. According to the notice, legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
Dispute follows Rhiti Tiwari’s Bigg Boss 20 statements
The controversy emerged after Rhiti spoke about her financial circumstances inside the Bigg Boss 20 house. She said she received between ₹20,000 and ₹25,000 a month from her father, actor-politician Manoj Tiwari, and recalled difficult periods during her childhood following her parents’ divorce.
Bawa subsequently questioned these claims on social media. In videos, he referred to what he described as Rhiti’s expensive handbags, cars and properties and questioned how they aligned with her account of receiving a monthly allowance. He also made claims concerning her alleged business interests and his alleged relationship with her mother.
In further social media posts, Bawa made additional allegations about his experience with the family and commented on Rhiti’s conduct on Bigg Boss 20. These claims remain disputed by Rhiti and her family.
Family asks publishers to verify claims
The legal notice has asked media organisations, publishers, digital platforms and channels to remove or avoid reproducing what the family describes as false claims. It also requests that any statements concerning Rhiti or her family be independently verified and supported with documentary evidence before publication.
Rhiti continues to appear on Bigg Boss 20, while the dispute remains a matter of competing claims and legal assertions.
