Amid growing discussions about declining non-theatrical revenues in the film industry, speculation surrounding the business prospects of The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, has prompted an official clarification from the film’s producer, TG Vishwa Prasad.
The upcoming horror-comedy, scheduled for a festive Sankranthi release, has been the subject of online chatter questioning whether it secured the highest non-theatrical deal amid an industry-wide slowdown in ancillary revenues. Addressing these claims, the producer said the makers are not focused on pre-release business figures and instead remain confident about the film’s theatrical performance.
In a post on X, Vishwa Prasad stated that internal financial details are not discussed publicly and emphasised that box-office performance after release is what truly matters. He added that the team would officially announce worldwide box-office numbers post release.
Elaborating on the broader market conditions, the producer noted that the non-theatrical segment is undergoing a natural correction phase. Despite this shift, he asserted that The Raja Saab has secured the highest non-theatrical value currently available in the market, dismissing the need for comparisons with other films.
He described the project as a large-scale horror-fantasy designed primarily for theatrical impact, reiterating that audience response on the big screen would be the final measure of its success.
Directed by Maruthi, the film also stars Malavika Mohanan and Nidhhi Agerwal in lead roles. The Raja Saab is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on January 9, marking the first major release of the Sankranthi window.
The film will precede other festive releases, including Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, Anaganaga Oka Raju, Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi, and Nari Nari Naduma Murari.
The project has faced multiple delays due to production-related factors. While promotional buzz has remained measured, industry observers have described audience response to the released material as decent, especially given the high expectations surrounding Prabhas’ return to the big screen.
