Zero AI Shots, 40-Minute Climax: Director Maruthi Reveals The Raja Saab Details

Director Maruthi has addressed speculation around the use of artificial intelligence in The Raja Saab, firmly stating that the film features zero AI-generated shots and relies entirely on handcrafted visual effects.

The clarification comes after the release of Trailer 2.0, which significantly boosted interest in the film following a mixed pre-release phase marked by delays and muted early promotions. The updated trailer drew attention for its sharper visuals, prompting online discussion about possible AI usage.

In interviews, Maruthi said the team consciously avoided AI-driven visuals, arguing that such technology still lacks cinematic depth, especially in high-resolution formats like 4K and 8K. He explained that while AI is evolving rapidly, current outputs often appear flat and disrupt visual continuity. According to him, traditional visual effects still deliver richer texture and immersion.

The director acknowledged that AI could eventually reduce production costs, particularly for smaller films, but said its widespread practical adoption in mainstream cinema is still a few years away.

Maruthi also revealed that The Raja Saab features an unusually long climax sequence lasting nearly 40 minutes. The climax reportedly unfolds in a single continuous narrative stretch after a song, blending action and drama without breaks, designed to play out as one sustained sequence.

The trailer has also sparked debate around Prabhas’s appearance, especially a striking Joker-like look in the final moments. Dressed in a dark suit with face paint and a hammer in hand, the visual has divided audiences online and become the most talked-about shot from the trailer.

The Raja Saab stars Prabhas in the lead role alongside Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal and Riddhi Kumar, with Boman Irani and Zarina Wahab in key roles. The film is produced by People Media Factory and features music by S S Thaman.

With renewed buzz following the latest trailer, the film is now drawing heightened attention ahead of its release.
