Fast & Furious 11: Vin Diesel Says Script Left Him in Tears, Filming in December

After years of delays, Fast Forever, the upcoming 11th film in the Fast & Furious franchise, is moving closer to production. Vin Diesel has revealed that filming is expected to begin in December and has also spoken about the emotional impact of the screenplay.

During a 25th anniversary screening of the original The Fast and the Furious, Diesel discussed the long development process behind Fast Forever. According to the actor, the upcoming instalment went through four sets of writers and around four years of development before the team settled on a script they believed was suitable for concluding the franchise.

Diesel said the screenplay left him emotional from the moment he began reading it. He revealed that he was already in tears halfway through the script and became even more emotional after reaching the end.

The actor also reflected on how difficult it was to contain his emotions after completing the screenplay, saying that even people who are considered tough can have moments when they need to cry.

With production expected to begin in December, Fast Forever is set to move closer to the conclusion of the long-running action franchise.

Diesel had previously shared his reaction to the film's screenplay on social media while promoting the theatrical return of the original 2001 movie. He described the screenplay written by Mike Leslie as the best script he had read in decades and said he was still emotional after reading it.

Fast Forever is expected to serve as the final instalment of the billion-dollar Fast & Furious franchise. The film is reportedly planned as the second part of a two-film finale following the cliffhanger ending of Fast X, which was released in 2023.

The upcoming film has been in development for several years, with the extended writing process reflecting the effort to bring the franchise to a fitting conclusion.

However, there is still some uncertainty around the production. Director Louis Leterrier remains attached to the project but has said that he had not yet read the latest screenplay, even as Diesel has publicly expressed strong emotions about the script.

The film is currently expected to begin shooting in December, with the franchise preparing for what is being positioned as its final chapter.
