ED Raids Hyderabad Premises Linked to Alleged Ganja Syndicate Over Hawala Probe

The Enforcement Directorate has conducted searches at multiple premises in Hyderabad linked to alleged ganja syndicate operator Kalapathi Mithubai and her relatives as part of an investigation into suspected money laundering and hawala transactions.

The searches were carried out in the Gachibowli area, with eight ED teams deployed for the operation. The agency is examining alleged financial transactions connected to an illegal narcotics network that investigators claim operated in and around Hyderabad.

According to investigators, the alleged family-run syndicate procured ganja from locations including Odisha, Araku and Phulgam. The narcotics were allegedly repackaged before being distributed and sold across the Nanakramguda IT corridor.

Investigators are examining allegations that the network operated for several years and generated proceeds that may have been routed through hawala and other financial channels.

Previous police action against the alleged syndicate had resulted in three FIRs. During earlier operations, authorities reportedly seized 53.5 kilograms of ganja and more than Rs 67 lakh in unaccounted cash.

Digital payment scanners, mobile phones and vehicles were also seized during the earlier investigations, according to authorities.

The latest ED operation focuses on tracing the alleged proceeds of the illegal narcotics trade and examining suspected money laundering links. The investigation remains ongoing.
