Jiah Khan’s Mother Rabya Khan Raises Concerns Over Fresh Disha Salian Probe

Late actor Jiah Khan’s mother Rabya Khan has raised concerns over the Central Bureau of Investigation’s fresh probe into the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian after actor Sooraj Pancholi’s name appeared in the FIR. She urged investigators to preserve and examine all available forensic evidence, saying crucial material could become difficult to recover with the passage of time.

The CBI registered an FIR after the Bombay High Court directed a fresh investigation into Salian’s June 2020 death. The FIR does not name anyone as an accused but lists several people whose roles may be examined, including Aaditya Thackeray, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea and Salian’s former partner Rohan Roy.

Pancholi, who was acquitted by a special CBI court in the Jiah Khan case, has previously said that he did not know Salian.

Rabya Khan compared the circumstances surrounding the two cases and questioned whether the truth could be established nearly six years after Salian’s death. She alleged that investigative shortcomings could result in the loss of important evidence and stressed that Salian deserved a thorough examination of the available material.

Pancholi was arrested in 2013 after Jiah Khan was found dead at her Mumbai residence. Her family later raised allegations of foul play and sought murder charges. Pancholi was charged with abetment to suicide under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code and was acquitted by a special CBI court in April 2023, with the court citing insufficient evidence to establish the charge.

Jiah Khan made her Hindi film debut with Nishabd in 2007 and later appeared in Housefull and Ghajini.

Disha Salian was found dead on June 8, 2020, shortly before the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Her death was initially recorded as an Accidental Death Report by local police. The latest CBI investigation followed a petition by her father, Satish Salian, and will examine the evidence and circumstances surrounding her death.
