JD Vance Says Emily Should Marry Gabriel in Emily in Paris

US Vice President JD Vance has shared his preferred ending for Netflix’s Emily in Paris, saying the show’s lead character Emily Cooper should marry French chef Gabriel and build a family with him. His comments came in a social media video in which he offered what he called a “meta-analysis” of the popular series.

Vance described Emily in Paris as a “masterpiece” and even called it “the Shakespeare of our time”. He argued that beneath its glamorous Paris setting, fashion and romantic storylines, the series offers commentary on how millennials make decisions, particularly in relationships.

According to Vance, Emily’s relationship with Gabriel is the obvious conclusion to the story. He said the two characters should fall in love, marry and build a life together, either in Paris or the United States. He also criticised their repeated decisions to remain apart despite what he sees as their compatibility.

The comments were made as Emily in Paris prepares for its sixth and final season. Netflix has confirmed that the final season will premiere on December 24.

Vance’s unexpected discussion of the series quickly attracted reactions online. Some viewers welcomed the US Vice President’s interest in the show and described his comments as relatable, while others responded humorously to his detailed take on Emily’s romantic choices.

The series, starring Lily Collins as Emily and Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, has built a large audience around its mix of romance, fashion, workplace drama and Parisian settings. Vance’s remarks have now added an unusual political spotlight to the show ahead of its concluding season.
