Infosys Executive Lax Gopisetty Missing After Nepal Flash Floods

Infosys Public Services chief Lax Gopisetty remains unreachable after devastating flash floods hit Nepal, where he was travelling in a personal capacity. Infosys said it is working with authorities to locate him and establish contact while providing support to his family.

The company confirmed that Gopisetty was visiting the region personally when the floods struck. Infosys said its immediate priority is to determine his whereabouts and ensure his safety.

“We can confirm that our colleague Lax Gopisetty, who was visiting the region in a personal capacity, is currently not reachable,” the company said.

Infosys added that it is coordinating with relevant agencies to gather information and remains in close contact with Gopisetty's family. The company also expressed condolences to those affected by the disaster.

320 INDIANS STILL MISSING

The Ministry of External Affairs said at least 320 Indian nationals remain missing following the flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border. Another 400 Indians were reported to be stranded on the Chinese side.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India remains ready to provide all possible assistance to Nepal as rescue and relief operations continue.

As part of ongoing efforts, 153 Indian nationals stranded on the Chinese side have safely crossed into Nepal. Another 21 Indians reached New Delhi on Friday afternoon after travelling to Kathmandu from the flood-affected areas.

The disaster has caused widespread destruction along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems, with hundreds of people killed and thousands still unaccounted for.

WHO IS LAX GOPISETTY?

Gopisetty heads Infosys Public Services, a subsidiary focused primarily on serving public-sector organisations in the United States and Canada.

According to his Infosys profile, he advises public-sector organisations on strategy, technology, operations and transformation and oversees the company's strategy and execution.

Before becoming head of Infosys Public Services, Gopisetty served as Global Vice President at Infosys and led its Business Applications and Digital Workspace Service practice across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

He previously worked as a Managing Director at Accenture, where he led part of its Health and Public Services business in North America. His professional career has also included senior roles at BearingPoint, IBM, PwC and HCL.

As rescue operations continue across the flood-hit region, Infosys is awaiting further information on Gopisetty's whereabouts while authorities work to locate missing people and assist stranded nationals.
