Jamal Musiala sparked concern during Bayern Munich's friendly against RB Leipzig after suddenly collapsing on the pitch just minutes after scoring.
The 23-year-old Germany international came on as a substitute and scored in the 81st minute as Bayern secured a 3-1 victory. However, the celebrations were followed by worrying scenes when Musiala went down and required medical attention.
Bayern officials later reassured fans that the midfielder was doing well, although the club did not immediately reveal what caused the episode.
JAMAL MUSIALA COLLAPSES AFTER SCORING
Musiala had been on the pitch for only around 15 minutes when the incident occurred.
After scoring in the 81st minute, he suddenly went down on the field. Medical staff from both Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig attended to him before Musiala eventually managed to get back on his feet.
He then walked towards the tunnel on his own, although he appeared visibly shaken by the incident.
Musiala was substituted in the 88th minute.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl attempted to ease concerns after the match.
“The most important thing is that he is fine.”
Another Bayern board member also provided a brief reassurance, saying that the main thing was that Musiala was okay.
However, Bayern did not provide a specific explanation for why the midfielder collapsed.
REPORTS SUGGEST MUSIALA EXPERIENCED DIZZINESS
German media reports suggested that Musiala may have experienced sudden dizziness during the match.
The conditions may also have contributed to the episode, with temperatures in Munich reportedly rising above 30 degrees Celsius.
However, these reports have not been confirmed by Bayern Munich.
The club is expected to continue monitoring Musiala's condition before determining whether he requires any additional medical assessment.
For now, there is no indication from Bayern that the incident represents another serious injury.
MUSIALA'S RECENT INJURY HISTORY ADDS TO CONCERN
The incident was particularly worrying because of Musiala's recent struggles with injuries.
The Bayern star suffered a serious leg injury during the club's 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign against Paris Saint-Germain. The injury included a fractured fibula and kept him out of action for several months.
Musiala eventually returned to football in January and has since been carefully managed as he worked towards regaining his fitness and form.
His recovery has included an individual rehabilitation programme and a gradual return to group training.
