KBC 18: Ruchita Adhalrao Wins Rs 25 Lakh, Set for Rs 1 Crore Question

An SSC aspirant from Dharavi has captured attention on Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 after winning Rs 25 lakh, taking a major step towards her dream of buying a home for her family.

Ruchita Adhalrao, who lives with her parents and brother in a small rented room in Mumbai's Dharavi, reached the Rs 25 lakh level on the Amitabh Bachchan-hosted quiz show. Her journey, marked by stories of financial hardship and determination, will continue as she returns to attempt the Rs 1 crore question.

Rs 25 Lakh Win Brings Home Dream Closer

During the episode, Ruchita shared details about her family's financial struggles. She said the family lives in a 10-by-10-foot rented room, where space is so limited that she has never had a bed of her own.

Her father works as a patient caretaker and earns around Rs 600 a day. Ruchita said winning Rs 25 lakh could help bring her family closer to owning a house.

The family consists of Ruchita, her parents and her brother, all living together in the rented accommodation.

The Rs 25 Lakh Question

Ruchita reached the 13th question and used the 50:50 lifeline before locking in her answer.

The question asked which ruler Fort William in Kolkata was originally named after. Ruchita initially believed the answer was William of Orange and stayed with her choice after using the lifeline.

Her answer was correct, helping her secure the Rs 25 lakh prize.

Fort William was built by the British East India Company in Kolkata in 1696 and was originally named after William III of England, also known as William of Orange. The fort was renamed Vijay Durg in 2025.

Ruchita Adhalrao's Struggle to Prepare for SSC

Ruchita told the show that she sees a government job as a way to improve her family's financial condition.

Due to financial constraints, she has been unable to afford coaching classes or study materials for her SSC preparation. Instead, she downloads educational videos from YouTube using public Wi-Fi and studies from them at home.

Her father also shared that Ruchita has always been a dedicated student and would walk to college to save money on transportation.

Ruchita also spoke about several dreams her family has been unable to fulfil because of financial difficulties, including owning a refrigerator and celebrating birthdays and festivals.

Ruchita to Attempt Rs 1 Crore Question

The episode ended with Ruchita securing Rs 25 lakh and advancing to the next stage of the competition.

She is set to return to the hot seat to face the Rs 1 crore question. Importantly, she still has two lifelines remaining: MahaFlip and Sanket Suchak.

Whether she will be able to cross the Rs 1 crore milestone will be revealed in the upcoming episode.
