Nagpur Boy Killed in Ransom Plot, Father’s Friends Arrested

A shocking case in Nagpur has left the city in grief after a class six student, Jeet Yuvraj Sonekar, was allegedly kidnapped and murdered for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh. Police have arrested three men, all reportedly friends of Jeet’s father, within hours of the crime earlier this week.

The incident occurred on Monday night in the Khaparkheda area. Jeet had gone to school that morning but did not return home, prompting his family to file a missing person’s report. Later that evening, a local goat herder discovered the boy’s body, which bore injuries to the head and eyes.

Investigations revealed a disturbing betrayal: the accused—Rahul Pal, Yash Verma, and Arun Bharatiya—had joined Jeet’s father, Yuvraj Sonkar, in the search for the missing boy, all while orchestrating the crime.

Police stated that Jeet was strangled inside a car after being abducted, and his body was later stuffed into a bag and dumped in nearby bushes. The suspects’ motive appears linked to a large farmland transaction known to them, prompting the plan to extort Rs 5 lakh from the victim’s father.

All three accused have been formally charged with murder, and the investigation is ongoing.

The case has sparked widespread outrage, highlighting the alarming reality of crimes committed by people known to the victims.
