Shruti Haasan on Marriage, Wedding Spending and Motherhood: ‘Give It to Charity’

Shruti Haasan has opened up about her views on marriage, relationships and motherhood, revealing that she once came close to getting married but remains sceptical about the need for a formal legal union. Speaking on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, the actor said she values the idea of partners choosing each other every day rather than defining a relationship through paperwork.

Haasan also questioned the trend of spending large amounts on elaborate wedding celebrations. She said such expenditure sometimes makes her wonder who the display is actually for, while suggesting that some of the money could instead be given to charity. She clarified that her comments were not intended to criticise people who choose to spend heavily on their weddings.

Discussing motherhood, Haasan said she would like to become a mother while making choices according to her own circumstances rather than social expectations. She said she is open to adoption while also expressing an interest in experiencing biological motherhood.

On the work front, Haasan was last seen in Rajinikanth’s Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Her upcoming projects include Train with Vijay Sethupathi and Aakasamlo Oka Tara with Dulquer Salmaan. She has also lent her voice to a song for SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi, which stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
