Sikh Truck Driver Stabbed 17 Times at Wyoming Rest Stop in US

A 28-year-old Sikh truck driver from Sacramento, California, was seriously injured after being stabbed 17 times during an unprovoked attack at a highway rest stop in Wyoming, United States. The incident took place inside a restroom at the Bitter Creek rest area along Interstate 80.

The driver, identified only by his surname Singh, was reportedly attacked from behind while looking into a mirror. He suffered multiple injuries to his neck, chest, ribs and arms.

Singh fought back during the assault and managed to escape the restroom. He then called 911 but collapsed before receiving emergency medical assistance. He was airlifted to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper for treatment.

The attack has drawn attention amid existing concerns among Sikh truck drivers in the US about racial profiling and safety. Sikh Americans, particularly those working in the trucking industry, have previously raised concerns about being targeted or mistaken for members of other groups because of their appearance.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the Wyoming stabbing. The available details do not establish a motive for the attack, and it remains unclear whether the victim was targeted because of his Sikh identity.
