AFG vs BAN 2025: Rashid Khan Sparks Collapse, Bangladesh Hold Nerve to Win First T20I

Bangladesh pulled off a thrilling four-wicket victory over Afghanistan in the first T20I of the three-match series in Sharjah, taking a 1-0 lead. The win came despite a sensational spell from Rashid Khan, who ripped through the Bangladesh middle order with four wickets in just two overs.

Chasing 152, Bangladesh began their innings with a blistering opening stand. Parvez Hossain Emon scored 54 off 37 balls, while Tanzid Hasan matched him with 51 off 36. The pair added 109 runs for the first wicket, dominating Afghan bowlers and putting Bangladesh in command.

Afghanistan fought back through Rashid, who removed Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Jaker Ali, and Shamim Hossain in a flurry, reducing Bangladesh to 118 for 5 and nearly turning the game. However, Nurul Hasan and Rishad Hossain steadied the innings, scoring crucial boundaries and finishing the chase with eight balls to spare.

Earlier, Afghanistan struggled to set a competitive total after being sent in. Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal, and Darwish Rasooli fell early, with Gurbaz top-scoring. Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling, led by Nasum Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan, restricted Afghanistan to 151, leaving the match poised for a tense finish.

Despite Rashid Khan’s brilliance, Bangladesh’s composure under pressure, highlighted by Nurul and Rishad’s calm finishing, ensured a dramatic but crucial win in Sharjah.
