Asian Games 2026: India Storm Into Kabaddi Semifinals With 37-21 Win

Defending champions India advanced to the men’s kabaddi semi-finals at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Chinese Taipei 37-21 in their final Group A match. The victory completed an unbeaten group-stage campaign, with India winning all four of their matches.

India had previously defeated South Korea, Japan and Bangladesh before overcoming Chinese Taipei at the Tokai Citizens Gymnasium. The result also guaranteed the defending champions at least a bronze medal as they continued their campaign to retain the Asian Games title.

India controlled the match from the opening stages, with Aslam Inamdar and Rahul Sethpal putting pressure on Chinese Taipei’s raiders. Sethpal was particularly effective in defence, while India’s attack continued to produce points and helped the team establish a 23-11 lead by half-time after two all-outs.

Chinese Taipei attempted to reduce the deficit after the break, but India maintained control through contributions from Devank Dalal and Ayan Lohchab. Strong defensive work limited Taipei’s scoring opportunities, while India added another all-out to secure a 16-point victory.

India scored 28 points through successful raids, three bonus points and six points from all-outs. The team will play its semi-final on September 25.

India has a strong history in men’s kabaddi at the Asian Games, having won eight gold medals and nine medals overall since the sport was introduced at the event in 1990. The women’s team has also begun its campaign with wins over Bangladesh and Iran.
