Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi Cleared for BBL 2025-26 After PCB Resolves NOC Issue

Top Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and others, have been cleared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to participate in the 2025-26 Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia. This decision ends weeks of uncertainty that had left Cricket Australia and franchise teams concerned.

Why NOCs Were Suspended

The PCB had initially suspended No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players wishing to compete in overseas T20 leagues, following Pakistan’s narrow loss to India in the Asia Cup 2025 final. The suspension caused panic among BBL franchises, as seven of the eight clubs had Pakistani players contracted.

After discussions between Cricket Australia and the PCB, exceptions were made for players with existing contracts and valid permissions, allowing them to feature in the tournament.
