Did Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir Marry Daughter to Nephew? Claims Spark Online Buzz

Social media platforms in Pakistan are abuzz with unverified claims suggesting that Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir hosted his daughter’s wedding on December 26 at the army headquarters in Rawalpindi, with the groom reportedly being his brother’s son.

According to claims circulating online, the wedding ceremony was held in a low-profile manner due to security considerations, and no official photographs were released. The reports allege that the event marked the wedding of Munir’s third daughter and was attended by senior political and military figures.

A Pakistani journalist had shared — and later deleted — a post on social media claiming that Munir’s daughter Mahnoor was married to his nephew, identified as Abdul Rehman Qasim. The information, however, has not been officially confirmed by the Pakistan Army or the family, and authorities have not issued any statement on the matter.

Unverified accounts further suggested that around 400 guests attended the ceremony, including Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, along with senior intelligence and military officials.

Who is Abdul Rehman Qasim?

As per local media reports, Abdul Rehman Qasim previously served as a captain in the Pakistan Army. After leaving military service, he reportedly joined the civil administration through a quota reserved for former army officers and is currently serving as an assistant commissioner.

General Munir is reported to have four daughters, with the December 26 ceremony said to mark the marriage of his third daughter. While the claims have fuelled online debate and political commentary, no independent verification or official confirmation has been provided so far.
