How Salman Khan Reunited With Kunickaa Sadanand After 30 Years, Reveals Ayaan Lall

Actor Salman Khan recently shared an unexpected and emotional reunion with actress Kunickaa Sadanand, nearly three decades after they last worked together. The meeting was facilitated by her son, actor Ayaan Lall, during the filming of Khan’s upcoming project Sikandar.

The reunion marked the first direct interaction between Khan and Sadanand since their 1998 romantic comedy Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, in which Kunickaa played the role of Salman Khan’s stepmother. The moment came as a surprise to Khan, who was unaware of Ayaan Lall’s family connection throughout the shoot.

‘I never told him who my mother was’

Speaking to Mamaraazzi, Ayaan Lall revealed that he deliberately chose not to disclose his background during the filming schedule. He said he avoided mentioning his mother or his family’s connection to the film industry, even till the final day of the shoot.

According to Lall, when Salman Khan eventually discovered the connection, he was visibly surprised and immediately asked to speak to Kunickaa Sadanand. Khan reportedly insisted that Lall call his mother on the spot, leading to an impromptu phone conversation between the two actors after nearly 30 years.

A moment that stopped the set

Lall recalled that the entire set paused as Salman Khan spoke to Kunickaa. For nearly ten minutes, cast and crew watched the actor reminisce with his former co-star. The conversation, Lall said, was filled with laughter and warmth, as the two revisited old memories and shared light-hearted banter.

The unexpected reunion quickly became a talking point among those present, turning into one of the most memorable off-camera moments during the shoot.

Salman Khan on upcoming projects

During the same interaction, Salman Khan also spoke about his physically demanding role in Battle of Galwan, scheduled for release on April 17, 2026. The film is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops.

Khan described the project as one of the most challenging of his career, noting that physical preparation now requires significantly more time and effort compared to earlier years.

The reunion with Kunickaa Sadanand, meanwhile, offered a rare, nostalgic glimpse into Bollywood’s past, highlighting how personal histories often resurface in unexpected ways on film sets.
