Jamia Senior Secondary School, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has partnered with IIT Madras School Connect to offer IIT Madras certificate courses to students of Classes 9 to 12. The eight-week online programme will expose students to a wide range of academic and emerging fields, helping them understand their interests, explore career possibilities and make informed decisions about higher education.

The courses span areas including Mathematics and Science, Engineering, Computing, Humanities and Management. Students can choose from subjects such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Economics and Finance, Law, Digital Humanities, Ecology and Forensic Sciences.

The programme also introduces students to specialised disciplines such as Electronic Systems, Architecture and Design, Product Design, Biological Systems, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace and game technology, along with mathematics and computing-related subjects.

Programme to Help Students Make Career Choices

For students in Classes 9 and 10, the initiative is aimed at providing early exposure to different academic disciplines. This can help students better understand their interests before choosing Science, Commerce or Humanities for Class 11.

Students in Classes 11 and 12 can use the courses to explore potential fields of study before selecting undergraduate programmes and planning their future career paths.

The initiative is being supported by JMI Vice-Chancellor Prof Mazhar Asif and Registrar Prof Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi. At the school level, Principal Dr Mohd Arshad Khan is overseeing the initiative, while PGT Computer Science Ms Wasiya Siddiqui has been nominated as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC).

Students to Receive IIT Madras E-Certificates

Students who successfully complete the prescribed course requirements, including assignments and examinations, will receive e-certificates from the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT Madras.

The collaboration is expected to give school students an opportunity to explore emerging fields at an early stage and gain greater clarity about their academic and career choices.
