72nd National Film Awards 2026: Live Streaming, Venue and Winners

The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony will be held on September 22 at Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, Gujarat, with President Droupadi Murmu presenting the honours. The event recognises achievements in Indian cinema for 2024 and marks the first time the National Film Awards ceremony is being held outside New Delhi. The government has announced plans for future editions to be hosted across different states and cities.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 3 pm and will be streamed live on the DD National YouTube channel, allowing viewers to watch the event online. The awards will be presented to winners across feature films, non-feature films and other categories.

Among the major honours, Article 370 has been selected as Best Feature Film, while Yami Gautam has been named Best Actress for the film. Mammootty, for Bramayugam, and Kartik Aaryan, for Chandu Champion, have jointly won Best Actor in a Leading Role.

Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024 at the ceremony. The honour recognises his contribution to Indian cinema over a career spanning more than five decades.

Other recognised films include Kalki 2898 AD, Pushpa: The Rule Part-02, Stree 2 and Amaran, which have received honours in various categories.

The Gujarat ceremony begins a new approach under which the National Film Awards are expected to move beyond Delhi and be hosted in different parts of the country in future editions.
